Is Your Child’s Behaviour A Bit Challenging to Manage? You’re Not Alone.

“Why is my child’s behaviour so out of control?” “Why don’t they ever listen to me?”

If you have found yourself asking this question or searching online for answers, you don’t need to look any further. Parenting can feel overwhelming at the best of times. If your child’s behaviour seems unpredictable or hard to manage, there is usually a reason for it. It is natural that your first thought would be to wonder if you’re doing something wrong. The truth is, you’re probably not. We all come to parenting with our own life experiences, including traumatic experiences we may have had ourselves. This coupled with the strains and stresses of life can make parenting a bit tricky. The truth is, you’re doing your best, and each child is different.

Parent Coaching: Your Support System

Parent coaching helps you to navigate the challenges of parenting with confidence and clarity. Sometimes it can feel good to share your worries with another individual for some guidance or even just to check in. In our sessions, we’ll start by looking at what the concern is, and then work out some strategies to help you move forward.

As children grow, their behaviours change, which then changes the direction you are going as a parent. Our parenting role and style changes a lot over time.

Difficult behaviours can arise for a number of reasons, a change in family circumstances, bullying or difficulties in school. Perhaps we might be experiencing a lot of stress ourselves either due to our past or present experiences of life which are adding to the challenge. Often strong emotions or difficult behaviour happen because of an unmet emotional need, especially when a child is small and struggles to communicate. Understanding our emotional needs is key to helping you and you child to thrive.

A Fresh Perspective Can Make All the Difference

If you’re feeling lost or unsure about how to respond to your child’s sudden changes in behaviour, it can be incredibly helpful to talk things through with someone who can offer a fresh viewpoint. Often, what seems like a problem is just a phase, and with the right tools, you can guide your child through it with more ease.

If you’d like to talk about your concerns and explore how parent coaching could help, simply fill out the form below, and we’ll be in touch with you as soon as possible.

What sort of things can the sessions support me with?

The sessions will start off by looking at what is happening in the present moment. We will then delve deeper into what may have been going on behid the scenes, even going back a bit in time to get some any relevant history. This will include family setup, how long the concerns have been present and what soutions you have attempted.

Once a clear history has been gained, we will look at how you want the future to look like and how we might get there. The sessions are all tailored to your own personal circumstances. Here are some of the areas where I can offer support:

  • Bereavement
  • Boundary Setting and positive communication
  • Co-Parenting and navigating divorce
  • Managing big emotions and the resultant behaviour
  • Parenting Style
  • Sleep
  • Toileting

This list is not exhaustive and there are many things that we can support you with.

Why Work With Me?

Having worked with families for over 20 years, I have supported many parents with the challenges that parenting can bring. I have completed the “Triple P” Positive Parenting Program and the Solihull Approach. I have also recently trained as a counsellor with the Human Givens Institute. This allows me to provide personalised advice and offer practical solutions. Having an extra pair of eyes looking into the situation can make all the difference, especially as I know from speaking to others how lonely it can be when things are difficult. The techniques we put in place will help you enhance your relationship with your child and create a harmonious atmosphere at home for everyone who lives there.
