My name is Keri Hartwright, I am a parent coach, Human Givens therapist, and director of Mental Health HQ CIC. My aim through my work is to reduce the stigma around mental health, reducing the effects of intergenerational trauma and giving people tools for life.
At 21, I qualified as a paediatric nurse, witnessing first-hand the struggles associated with having a sick child in the family. From there my journey has taken me in many directions. I qualified as a school nurse in 2007, where I would hear the trials and tribulations of the day-to-day life of young people, often which parents were unaware of. I acted as the glue to bring them back together. Because of the work I was doing it heightened my interest in mental health and led me to look for a more proactive way of managing mental health rather than the reactive ways which exist within the NHS, and I trained as a Human Givens Therapist. When we go through life as a parent, our relationship with our child can become a little disconnected because of societal pressures, financial worries, work pressures, relationship changes and much more.
What can I help you with?
As a therapist. I cam help you with the following:
- Reducing anxiety. Anxiety can show up as stressed, having panic attacks, fears, phobias, lack of confidence or overwhelming pressure.
- Break the cycle of depression. I can help you find hope again quickly and work on balancing your emotional needs so you can escape the black hole of depression.
- Resolve trauma – As a human givens therapist I can treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which can be the result of trauma.
- Manage anger – anger is the commonest emotion shared with me by teens. Anger can damage your health and increase the likelihood of an early death. If you suffer from unreasonable anger, we can do something about it
- Stop addictive behaviour. If you are at a point where you feel ready to move forward and which can destroy relationships and break down families. All forms of addiction can be overcome providing the person sincerely wants to stop the behaviour.
- Relieve medical conditions. Many conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic pain and migraine, have an emotional component. Stressful events often trigger an outbreak because emotions affect health – and vice versa.
- Harmonise relationships. Relationship difficulties are often self-perpetuating. This is because our beliefs and reactions to each other may trigger patterns of behaviour that stop us solving them. When couples or families want to stay together but are having problems, the human givens approach can help.
Values
Empowerment We empower individuals to take charge of their future and well-being by offering practical evidence-based tools for achieving enduring family harmony.
Hope When life is tough, it can feel like hope has gone. By listening and providing space, we can bring hope to people when they need it most.
Community Being part of a wider community is one of our essential emotional needs. This reduces the isolation, which can lead to poor mental well-being. Building community and fostering connection helps reduce the burden of mental health.
Compassion We provide compassionate and respectful service to our users and ourselves during times of distress and isolation.
