Safeguarding Policy

safeguarding | Mental Health HQ CIC

The law in England states that children and adults should live a life free from harm. They are expected to live a healthy life, enjoy and achieve and also contribute to society. The staff and volunteers at Mental Health HQ are committed to prioritising safeguarding. It is their duty to protect children and vulnerable adults. We follow all the latest guidance. Our experienced counsellor is highly trained in safeguarding and has an in depth understanding of confidentiality. All clients receive and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Counselling sessions can sometimes raise issues or concerns which may need to be shared with other professionals . This will ensure the safety of all concerned. Our counsellor offers support to children and young people as well as to vulnerable adults. The consultations which occur, are confidential. If something arises that concerns the counsellor, they will inform the person making the disclosure. The counsellor will then liaise with appropriate people including their supervisor. These professionals might include the GP, local authority and the police.

Our counsellor accesses regular supervision and cases re discussed. Clients all receive a confidentiality document to complete prior to engaging in sessions informing them of this. This also includes information on record keeping which is a requirement after every session.

All staff who volunteer or work with the organisation follow our safeguarding policy, and this has been agreed to by the board of directors.
